Bakery website design that takes the order

Most bakery websites are a photo album with a phone number. Beautiful, and then the visitor closes the tab and messages whoever made it easiest. We build the other kind: a site whose entire job is to turn someone who is hungry and undecided into a confirmed order with a date on it.

The gap

A gallery is not a shop

Here is the typical bakery site. A slow hero video. Twelve photos of cakes with no prices. An “About” page about the founder's grandmother. A contact form. Somewhere, possibly in the footer, a phone number.

Now picture the actual visitor: a parent at 9:40pm who needs a 20-person birthday cake for Saturday and has three tabs open. They want to know three things — can you do it, roughly what will it cost, and how do I start. Your site answers none of them, so they go back to the search results.

Every page we build is tested against that parent. If an element does not help them get to a confirmed order, it does not ship.

The one number that matters. A bakery site that converts 1% of its visitors into enquiries and one that converts 6% cost about the same to build. Across a year, on the same traffic, that is the difference between a side project and a second oven.

What is actually on the site

Every build includes all of this. There is no tier where the ordering works properly and a cheaper one where it does not.

A menu that reads like a menu

Products grouped how customers think — everyday, celebration, custom, seasonal — with real prices or honest “from” prices. Hiding prices does not create enquiries, it creates bounces.

A custom-cake enquiry form that works

Occasion, date, servings, flavour, dietary needs, inscription, delivery or collection, budget band, photo upload. Nine fields that save you fourteen messages and arrive in your inbox and WhatsApp at once.

Click-to-WhatsApp on every page

Pre-filled with what the customer was looking at, so the conversation starts at message three instead of message one. Wired into the automation if you have it.

Fast on a bad phone connection

Static pages, compressed images, no page-builder bloat. The site loads in under a second on 4G, which Google notices and so does the person waiting.

Built for local search from day one

LocalBusiness and Product structured data, proper heading structure, location pages where you have more than one shop, and your Google listing wired to match. See local SEO.

Online ordering, if you want it

Click-and-collect or delivery with slot selection, deposits and card payment, for the products where it makes sense. Plenty of bakeries are better off with WhatsApp — we will tell you which you are.

Lead time

Seven days, start to live

It is seven days because we have done it many times and because the only slow part is waiting on you for photos.

What we need from you: your product list with prices, your logo if you have one, and access to your domain. Half an hour of your time, total.

Day 1 — the brief

A call and a short form. What you sell, what makes you different, which products you actually want more of.

Days 2–4 — the build

Design, copy and build in parallel. We write the words; you are not handed a blank page and asked to fill it.

Day 5 — your review

You see the whole site on a private link. One round of changes, handled same day.

Days 6–7 — live

Domain, SSL, analytics, Search Console, structured data, sitemap submitted. Then we watch the first week of traffic with you.

Honest

When a new website is the wrong thing to buy

If nobody is finding you, a better website will not save you. It will convert the trickle you already have slightly better, and that is all. We will say this on the call rather than take the money.

In that situation the first money is better spent on your Google Business Profile and reviews — cheaper, faster, and the thing that actually controls whether a nearby customer ever sees you. The website comes next, once there is traffic for it to convert.

The one exception: if your current site is so slow or so broken on mobile that it is actively losing the people who do arrive, fix it first. We can usually tell which situation you are in within ten minutes of looking.

Questions

About the website build

If you would rather do this yourself, we wrote what belongs on a bakery site, page by page — free, no email gate.

Do I own the website?

Yes. The site, the domain and the content are yours. If you stop working with us we hand over the files and you can take them to anyone. We do not build on a proprietary platform you have to keep renting from us.

What if I already have a website?

We look at it first. Sometimes the right answer is a rebuild, sometimes it is a restructure of what you have, and occasionally it is three specific fixes and leave the rest alone. A rebuild is not automatically the recommendation just because it is the bigger job.

Will it work with my existing ordering system?

Usually. We regularly connect bakery sites to WhatsApp Business, Stripe, Square, Shopify catalogues and the common delivery platforms. Tell us what you run on the call and we will confirm before you commit to anything.

What about photography?

Good photography makes more difference to a bakery site than anything else on it. If you have a decent library, we will use it and tell you which gaps to fill. If you do not, we will brief a local photographer for a half-day shoot — it is the single best few hundred you will spend, and the photos then feed your Instagram and your ads for the next two years.

Is seven days realistic?

Yes, when you are available on day one and day five. The build is genuinely seven days; what stretches it is waiting a fortnight for a product list. We will chase you, politely.

Tell us what your bakery is missing

Thirty minutes. We look at your Google listing, your site and how orders reach you today, then tell you what we would fix first — whether or not you hire us.
